On Saturday, May 30, 2026, Umu Igbo Unite Wisconsin will host its second annual Biafra Remembrance Day at The Black Business Hub in Madison. This year’s theme, Through Women’s Eyes and Experiences, centers the voices of women who survived the Biafran/Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970), stories that have long been suppressed and absent from public memory.

The evening will feature women speakers and storytellers sharing firsthand accounts of the war, creating space for intergenerational dialogue and community connection. The event is free and open to the public, and we warmly welcome members of the African immigrant and diaspora community in Madison.
