We are committed to promote the wellbeing of our elders and reduce loneliness and isolation impacting our senior community members. Our older adults programs aim to support our African elders by providing culturally relevant activities and events as well as connecting them to trusted community resources that improve health and livelihoods.
Older Adults Programs
Our Commitment
Creating a community where our elders feel culturally connected, informed, and valued
Programs
Baobab Senior Circle (BSC)
We provide a conducive environment for immigrant older adults to connect with their peers, share experiences and pass down cultural knowledge through storytelling, oral history, music and other art forms.
What to expect
Safe space for sharing cultural knowledge and experiences
To improve the health of our elders in the community, the African Center is partnering with Safe Communities to learn about how adults (55 years and above) can prevent falls and gain their balance. Through our older adults program, we are reducing the information and resource gap among our African elders in Dane County.
