Journey across the African continent through award-winning children’s stories, hands-on activities, and cultural discovery. Children’s African Story Hour (CASH) brings diverse art, culture, food, and language from across Africa directly to families in Madison Wisc.

This FREE story hour is open to children of all ages and backgrounds. It is an opportunity for your children, grandchildren and little friends to learn about Africa, different cultures and diverse culinary traditions.

Each session features storytellers from the spotlighted country or region of Africa who offer cultural knowledge and share lived experiences, making the stories come alive with authenticity and warmth. Children will engage in creative activities, sample African cuisines, and explore the rich diversity of a vast continent—all in a fun, welcoming atmosphere.

This free program is a collaboration between the African Center for Community Development, UW-Madison’s African Studies Program, and Madison Public Library.
